IND vs WI 4th ODI: Akshar Added To India Squad For Remaining ODIs

Akshar Patel made his India debut during the three-ODI series in Bangladesh in June.

Gujarat allrounder Akshar Patel has been added to India’s limited overs team for the remaining two ODIs against West Indies in a 15-man squad announced on Monday.

The selection committee just added one member to an otherwise unchanged 14-member side for the fourth and the fifth ODIs, after the third game – scheduled to be held on Tuesday in Vizag – was called off due to cyclone Hudhud.

IND vs WI 4th ODI: Akshar PatelPatel, who made his India debut during the three-ODI series in Bangladesh in June, was brought back into the squad after missing the ODI series in England.

The rest of the squad remained the same, with Ishant Sharma having already replaced the injured Mohit Sharma. The series is locked at 1-1 with the third ODI to be played in Dharamshala on Friday.

Patel, along with Karnataka batsman Manish Pandey, has also been added to the 14-member team for the lone T20I against West Indies, which will be held on October 22 in Cuttack.

Pandey, who had a successful outing in this year’s IPL with 401 runs in 16 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, is yet to don India colours.

Kerala wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who was left out of the ODI squad after not getting a game during the series in England, was also named in the T20 squad

Suresh Raina will captain the Board President’s XI that will square off against the West Indies in Kanpur for a three-day practice game to be played from October 25, ahead the Test series. Raina is vying for a return to the Test side having last played for India in the format in 2012.

Rohit Sharma, nursing a finger injury, is part of the squad for the practice game along with young left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav.
