New Delhi, Apr 3 (PTI) Even as South Africa is bracing up for second edition of Indian Premier League, the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament is getting encouraging response from people across the world, IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi today said.

“There are quite a few good responses. We have got 600 confirmed bookings and out of that from India itself we have over a few hundred bookings. There are airlines who are putting in packages to come in and kept aside few thousand tickets for Indian fans,” Modi said.

Modi, who is also the vice-president of BCCI, said the IPL is receiving good response from the countries other than India, including of the middle-east.

“From the middle-east we have four hundred booking already confirmed. There are packages for Australians coming in to watch the tournament. It’s great interest from all over the world,” Modi told CNN-IBN.

BCCI shifted the lucrative event out of India in the view of the tournament dates clashing with general election, generating speculation about the success of the domestic event abroad.

“It’s very difficult, but its also very important for the (Indian) fans to mingle with and convert the South African fans into the Indian team fans. Indian fans will be able to do that,” Modi said. PTI
